Copyright & Image Usage Policy

All images created by SJR Images are protected by United States copyright law. Unless otherwise stated in writing, SJR Images retains full copyright ownership of all images and visual media produced.

1. Copyright Ownership

Under U.S. Copyright Law, the photographer automatically retains copyright of all photographs.

Clients receive usage rights, not ownership of the copyright.

2. Client Usage Rights

Clients may use delivered images for:

• Personal use
• Social media posting
• Personal printing
• Sharing with friends and family

Clients may not:

• Sell images
• Submit images for commercial publication
• Use images for advertising or business promotion without written permission

3. Commercial Use

Commercial use includes:

• Advertising
• Marketing materials
• Brand promotion
• Business websites
• Product packaging

Commercial use requires a separate licensing agreement.

4. Editing and Alteration

Clients may not:

• Apply heavy edits
• Add filters that change the integrity of the work
• Crop out watermarks or branding

Minor cropping for social media is permitted.

5. Photographer Portfolio Rights

SJR Images retains the right to use images for:

• Portfolio display
• Website galleries
• Social media marketing
• Advertising and promotional materials
• Photography competitions or publications

If a client requires confidentiality or privacy, this must be requested in writing before the session.

6. Personal Use

Images delivered to clients may be used for:

• Personal sharing
• Personal prints
• Social media posts

Credit to SJR Images is appreciated when posting online.

7. Social Media Guidelines

When posting images on social media:

• Do not remove watermarks if present
• Do not apply heavy filters or modifications
• Tag or credit SJR Images when possible

8. Third-Party Use

Third parties such as vendors, event planners, venues, and magazines must obtain permission from SJR Images before using images.

9. Unauthorized Use

Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or commercial use of images may result in:

• Copyright infringement claims
• Licensing fees
• Legal action if necessary
